With all that statistical mumbo-jumbo behind us, we still have a couple of months until pre-season games begin and I'm at least a month away from starting to make predictions about the upcoming season. So I'm going to have to get creative in coming up with ideas for posts in the next little while.
It is in that spirit that I'm launching a new irregular feature: The RaptorBlog Commenter Draft. Basically, I pick a topic for the draft — your favorite NBA highlight in this case — and then you, the commenters, take turns making your "picks" in the comments. Simple, right?
There are rules, of course. I always make the first pick. (It's my site, so deal with it, suckaz.) Once somebody makes a pick, it's off the board. And once you make a pick, you can't make another pick until five more picks are made after yours.
In this draft, I want you to post a link to your favorite single NBA highlight that you ever witnessed. It has to be a moment you watched live either on TV or in person. It has to be viewable by the rest of us through a link to a video. And it has to have taken place in an NBA game. That means that Vince Carter's dunk over Freddie Weis isn't allowed, and neither is Vince Carter's slam dunk contest victory. I am, however, tempted to allow this video of Vince Carter doing the Soulja Boy at what appears to be a sausage party.
OK, so here's my first pick, and it might surprise you. It's Tayshaun Prince's incredible block on Reggie Miller in the 2004 Eastern Conference Finals. When I watched this live, I literally jumped off my couch and ran around my living room for 15 seconds yelling, "OHHHHHHHHHH! OHHHHHHHHH!" After I finally calmed down, I noticed my then-fiancee looking at me with an expression that said, "I'm actually going to marry this dolt?"
All right, let's have some fun with this. To those of you who have never commented before, you don't have to sign up for anything to post a comment. You just enter a name (email and URL are optional) and then post your comment — in this case, a link to your favorite NBA highlight and your explanation for why it's one of your favorites.
